How to Choose an Implant Dentist in Miami

The right dental implant dentist plans your case with a 3D scan, explains in plain language why they recommend each step, tells you who places the implants and who makes the final teeth, and gives you a written plan and estimate before you commit. Price and ads say little; these answers say a lot.

Why the choice matters more with implants

An implant is surgery plus craftsmanship. The surgery has to put the implant in the right bone, at the right angle, away from nerves and the sinus. The craftsmanship has to make teeth that bite correctly and look like yours. A clinic can be good at one and weak at the other — so you want to know who does each part.

1. Do they plan with a 3D scan?

A regular X-ray is flat. A 3D scan (cone-beam CT) shows the height, width and density of your bone and where the nerves and sinus are. Ask: "Will you take a 3D scan before you give me a plan?" If the answer is no, keep looking.

2. Who places the implants, and who makes the teeth?

Ask both questions, separately.

  • Placement: who does the surgery, and how often do they do this kind of case?
  • The teeth: are your crowns or bridge made in the clinic's own lab, or sent to an outside lab? When the lab is in-house, the ceramist can see you in person and adjust shape and color without weeks of back-and-forth. At Art Dental Studio, final teeth are made in-house by master ceramist Enrique.

3. Can they handle the whole case under one roof?

Many implant cases need more than one specialty: treating the gums first, saving or removing a tooth, aligning the bite. When those specialists work in the same practice, there is one plan and one team that knows your case. See why a multi-specialty team matters.

4. Do they explain the options — not just one?

A good dentist tells you what fits your case and why: a single implant, several implants, a bridge, or a full-arch solution like All-on-4. If the plan is full-arch, ask how many implants they recommend and why — our guide All-on-4, All-on-6 or All-on-X, explained helps you follow that conversation.

5. Are they honest about "same-day" teeth?

"Teeth in a day" usually means a fixed temporary bridge the same day, with permanent teeth months later. A trustworthy clinic tells you that clearly and also tells you when same-day teeth aren't safe for your bone. Read what "teeth in a day" really means.

6. Do you get a written plan and estimate?

You should leave the consultation with a written treatment plan and a personalized estimate, and with clear information on payment options. Be careful with a single "one price for everyone" offer: every mouth is different, and so is every plan. If cost is your main question, see what determines dental implant cost and the financing options.

7. Can you see real results and real patients?

Look at the clinic's own before-and-after cases (our gallery) and read what patients say in their own words. Real cases, from the clinic itself, are worth more than stock photos.

8. Can they speak your language?

Implant treatment involves a lot of instructions — before surgery, the day of, and during healing. Being able to ask every question in your own language, English or Spanish, matters.

9. What happens after?

Ask how often you'll be checked during healing, how to clean around implants, and who you call if something feels wrong at night or on a weekend.

A checklist to take to your consultation

  • 3D scan before the plan? ☐
  • Who places the implants? ☐
  • Who makes the final teeth, and where? ☐
  • Other specialists in the same practice if needed? ☐
  • Options explained, not just one? ☐
  • Honest answer on same-day teeth? ☐
  • Written plan and estimate? ☐
  • Follow-up and emergency contact explained? ☐

The bottom line

Choose the team, not the ad. The right implant dentist measures your bone in 3D, explains every step, tells you who does the surgery and who makes the teeth, and puts the plan in writing before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

What should I ask an implant dentist before choosing?

Ask whether they plan with a 3D scan, who places the implants, who makes the final teeth and where, whether other specialists are in the same practice, and whether you will get a written plan and estimate.

Why does an in-house lab matter for implants?

Because the person making your crowns or bridge can see you in person and adjust shape and color directly, instead of sending work back and forth to an outside lab.

How do I compare clinics without comparing prices?

Compare the plan: 3D imaging, who does the surgery and the teeth, the options explained, and a written estimate. Every mouth is different, so a single price for everyone tells you little.
