Veneers are one tool used in smile design — but smile design plans the entire visible smile holistically rather than treating individual teeth. A smile design case typically combines veneers with whitening, gum reshaping and (sometimes) orthodontic correction. The planning phase is much more extensive, with digital previews, wax-up models and temporary veneers worn before commitment.

Yes — they describe the same thing. "Smile makeover" is the common name for transforming your smile; "smile design" is the planning process that makes the result look natural: analyzing your face, lips, gums and bite, previewing the new smile and testing it with temporaries before the final work. It depends on which treatments your plan includes and how many teeth are involved — for example, how many veneers, the material, and whether you need whitening, gum reshaping or alignment first. Every case is different, so we do not publish prices. Sometimes, yes. If your teeth are healthy and your main concerns are color or position, professional whitening, composite bonding, Invisalign or gum contouring may give you the change you want with less tooth preparation. Veneers make sense when you also want to change shape, size or proportions. Your consultation and digital preview show which combination fits your smile.

Most of the process is planning — photos, scans and previews — and involves no discomfort. When teeth are prepared for veneers, it is done under local anesthesia, and mild sensitivity to hot and cold for one to two weeks afterwards is common and usually fades on its own. If your plan includes other treatments, such as gum or orthodontic work, we explain what each step feels like before you begin.

Ask to see your new smile before any tooth is prepared, ask whether you will wear temporaries in the planned shape, and ask who makes the veneers and where — in-house or in an outside lab. Yes. We use digital smile design to create a 3D simulation of your final result before any tooth preparation. You can request adjustments to shape, length, color and proportions. For comprehensive cases, we also create wax-up models so you can physically hold and review the planned smile.

During the temporary phase (before the permanent veneers), you wear veneers in the final planned shape. This is your last opportunity to request changes before the permanent veneers are crafted. We adjust shape, length, color or proportions based on your feedback. Permanent placement only happens after you approve the design.

With proper care, smile designs at Art Dental Studio typically last 15-20+ years. The biggest factors in longevity: 6-month cleanings, daily flossing, not biting hard objects, wearing a night guard if you grind, and avoiding excessive smoking/heavy red wine consumption.

Yes — veneers are not permanent. After 15-20+ years, normal wear, gum recession or aesthetic changes may make replacement the right choice. Many patients see well over two decades from a single set with proper care.
