Restore your smile, your way.
Traditional, partial and implant-supported dentures custom-fitted at Art Dental Studio. Bilingual care.
Dentures replace missing teeth — either a full set (complete denture) when all teeth are gone, or a few teeth (partial denture) when some natural teeth remain. At Art Dental Studio, we offer the full range of denture options from traditional removable dentures to modern implant-supported alternatives like All-on-4. If you're considering dentures, it's worth knowing your options. Traditional removable dentures are the most affordable starting point but require nightly removal, adhesives for stability, and dietary restrictions. Implant-supported dentures (snap-on) and All-on-4 are non-removable, function like natural teeth, and many former denture wearers describe the upgrade as life-changing.
What are dentures?
Dentures are removable or fixed prosthetic devices that replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They restore your ability to eat, speak and smile. Modern dentures look natural and fit comfortably when properly made — a major upgrade from the dentures of previous generations.
Three main types: complete dentures (replace all teeth in an arch, sit on the gums and stay in place via suction and adhesive), partial dentures (replace some teeth and clip to remaining natural teeth via clasps), and implant-supported dentures (snap onto 2-4 dental implants for far better stability and function).
The "right" denture option depends on how many teeth you're missing, your bone health, your budget, and your lifestyle. Patients who can afford it consistently report that implant-supported dentures or All-on-4 dramatically improve quality of life vs traditional removable dentures.
Which denture option is right for me?
During your free consultation, we evaluate which option fits your specific situation:
- Traditional complete dentures — most affordable, no surgery required, removable for cleaning
- Partial dentures — when you still have some healthy natural teeth to anchor them
- Implant-supported snap-on dentures — non-removable during the day, snap to 2-4 implants for stability
- All-on-4 — fully fixed, non-removable, supported by 4 implants per arch (see /treatments/all-on-4-miami)
- Immediate dentures — placed the same day teeth are extracted (avoid being toothless)
- Overdentures — combine the benefits of implants and removable dentures
Denture process at Art Dental Studio
- 01
Free consultation
We evaluate your remaining teeth (if any), bone structure, gum health, and discuss your goals and budget. You see examples of different denture options and decide which path fits best.
- 02
Pre-prosthetic preparation
If teeth need extraction, this is done first. If you're going to implant-supported dentures, implants are placed (with 3-6 month healing). If immediate dentures are chosen, they're prepared in advance for same-day delivery.
- 03
Impressions and bite records
Precision impressions of your gums (and any remaining teeth) are taken. We also record your bite and jaw movements. These records guide the denture design.
- 04
Wax try-in
A wax model of your dentures is made for try-in. You see how they'll look and feel before the permanent ones are fabricated. Adjustments to tooth color, shape and arrangement happen at this stage.
- 05
Final fabrication
Master ceramist Enrique fabricates the permanent dentures in-house using high-quality acrylic and porcelain or composite teeth, matched to your aesthetic preferences.
- 06
Delivery and adjustments
Your final dentures are fitted. Most patients need 2-3 short adjustment appointments over the first few weeks as the dentures "settle" and small sore spots are smoothed.
- 07
Long-term care
Annual evaluations to check fit (jaws change shape over time, dentures may need relining), professional cleaning of the dentures, and replacement every 5-10 years for traditional dentures.
Adjusting to dentures
The first 2-4 weeks with new dentures involve an adjustment period. Most patients experience some sore spots, mild speaking difficulty (especially with "S" and "F" sounds), and increased saliva production initially. These resolve as your mouth adapts.
For the first few days, eat soft foods cut into small pieces. Practice speaking by reading aloud — this speeds up the adjustment of your tongue and cheeks to the new shape. Most patients are eating most foods normally within 2-4 weeks, though very hard or sticky foods may remain challenging long-term with traditional removable dentures.
Daily care: remove dentures at night to give your gums rest (except for immediate dentures during initial healing), clean them daily with a denture brush and cleaner, store in water or denture solution when not worn. Annual check-ups to monitor fit and bone changes are essential.

Implant-supported dentures (snap-on or All-on-4) are dramatically better for stability, function and confidence, and are a bigger investment than traditional removable dentures. Many patients find the upgrade in stability and confidence life-changing, while traditional dentures remain a major quality-of-life improvement over missing teeth. Your free consultation covers which option best fits your goals.
Traditional removable dentures typically last 5-10 years before needing replacement or major relining. Implant-supported dentures last 15-20+ years with proper care (the dentures themselves; the implants beneath last 25+ years or lifetime). Annual evaluations are important to catch fit issues before they become problems.
Modern dentures are designed to restore your natural facial proportions, often improving appearance because they fill out the cheeks and lips that have collapsed inward from missing teeth. Many patients look younger after getting properly designed dentures. Premium options use lifelike teeth that closely mimic natural enamel.
With traditional removable dentures: most foods are fine after 2-4 weeks of adjustment, but very hard or sticky foods (apples, corn on the cob, taffy, tough steak) may remain challenging long-term. With implant-supported dentures or All-on-4: you can eat virtually any food you ate with natural teeth, including steaks and apples.
Some discomfort is normal during the first 2-4 weeks as your mouth adapts. Sore spots develop where the denture rubs the gums — these are smoothed with quick adjustment appointments. After the adjustment period, dentures should feel comfortable. Ongoing pain typically means the fit needs adjustment (jaws change shape over time and dentures need relining periodically).
Traditional removable dentures: replacement every 5-10 years, with relining every 2-3 years to maintain fit as your jawbone naturally shrinks. Implant-supported dentures: 15-20+ years for the denture portion (implants last longer). Annual check-ups catch issues early — don't wait until the denture is broken or unbearable to come in.
Yes — many of our patients make this transition. The procedure replaces removable dentures with a permanent, non-removable set of teeth supported by 4 implants per arch. No more adhesives, no more removal at night. See /treatments/all-on-4-miami for full details. Most former denture wearers describe the change as life-altering.
